One of the major changes is that:
condominium corporations will be able to seek recovery of the deductible portion of the corporation's insurance claim - up to a maximum of $50,000 - from a condo owner for any damage that originates in their suite or private area
This is irregardless of fault or negligence of a unit owner, as long as it can be determined that the particular unit is where the issue originated (e.g. a pipe bursting and flooding your unit and the units below). There are positives and negatives to this change. The change can help to minimize the overall cost impact on the condo corporation, thereby helping the majority of condo owners. However for the owner of a unit, this could result in a big financial hit. It would be advisable to check with your home owner's insurance policy to ensure you have adequate coverage moving forward.
